Mark L. Claster is the Immediate Past President of Carl Marks & Co. and a Partner of CMA, bringing more than 40 years of executive leadership and transactional experience to the firm. He has participated in over 100 transactions and continues to play a central role in advising the firm’s investment and advisory businesses.

Mark serves as Co-Chair of the Board of Carl Marks and sits on its Executive and Investment Committees. He holds an advisory role across the firm’s investment platforms and previously served as a General Partner of Carl Marks’ two Small Business Investment Companies.

Mark founded Carl Marks Advisors (CMA), an affiliate of Carl Marks. CMA provides investment banking and Turnaround & Restructuring services to companies across a broad range of industries. Through CMA, Mark has served in executive management roles and as a financial advisor to companies in complex and evolving situations. He also serves as President of Carl Marks Securities and is FINRA registered as a General Securities Principal.

Beyond the firm, Mark has long been active in healthcare leadership. He is the Past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Northwell Health, New York’s largest health system, and continues to serve on the Board. In addition, he currently serves as a Special Advisor to Northwell and its Chief Executive Officer. Mark is also a member of the Joint Board of Overseers for the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and serves on the Board of Mather Hospital.

An active community and philanthropic leader, Mark is deeply involved in initiatives supporting youth development, healthcare, and Israel. He serves on the Board of ImpactIsrael (formerly Friends of Yemin Orde) and as a Trustee of the Carl Marks Foundation. He has also previously served as President of Fresh Meadow Country Club.

Mark began his career as a tax attorney with Olin & Philips. He holds a B.B.A. with honors from Ohio University, a J.D. from Hofstra University School of Law, and an LL.M. in Taxation from NYU School of Law.
