Brian Barefoot brings more than 40 years of senior leadership experience across investment banking, corporate governance, and higher education. His career in financial services includes senior executive roles at PaineWebber Inc., where he served as Executive Vice President and Director of Investment Banking, a member of the Board of Directors, and President of PaineWebber International, as well as a 25-year tenure at Merrill Lynch & Co., from which he retired as Senior Vice President and Managing Director.
Following his Wall Street career, Brian founded Frontier Sports Development Corp., serving as Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer until the company’s sale. He subsequently held senior leadership roles at NeoVision Hypersystems, Inc., including Chairman of the Board, President, and CEO.
Brian also served as President of Babson College, one of the nation’s leading management schools, from 2001 to 2008, and was later elected President Emeritus. His longstanding service to Babson began in 1985 as a member of the Board of Trustees, where he held numerous leadership roles, including Chair of the Board, Chair of the Executive Committee, Chair of the Investment Committee, and co-chair of the school’s capital campaign, which raised a record $122 million. He continues to serve Babson as a member of its Global Advisory Board and Chair of the President’s Advisory Council.
His board experience spans healthcare, technology, and consumer businesses. Brian has served on the boards of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Greeley Corp., Array Health Solutions, and Cynosure, Inc., where he chaired the Audit Committee prior to the company’s sale. He currently serves as a director of BigBelly Solar and as a Trustee of Burr & Burton Academy. He is also Vice Chairman of the Indian River Medical Center Foundation and previously served as Mayor of Indian River Shores, Florida.
Brian earned a B.S. from Babson College and an M.B.A. from Pace University’s Lubin School of Business, and has completed multiple executive education programs at Harvard Business School. His honors include the Cruickshank Alumni Leadership Award and the Ellis Island Medal of Honor, recognizing his contributions to business, education, and public service.
